Thyroid problems are part of the health picture in many people that have difficulty
losing weight, which is clearly over half of the American population. The symptoms
involve at least several of the following: weight gain, fatigue, headaches, energy
drops in the afternoon, and/or elevated cholesterol levels.*
In most cases the problem
is not in the thyroid gland itself. The problem lies in the activation of the thyroid
hormone at the cellular level (the conversion of T4 to T3). Often, this will not
show up on a lab test, yet the person has the symptoms. When the body does not make
enough T3, problems with metabolism occur causing excessive weight gain, regardless
of how much thyroid hormone the thyroid gland produces.*
Let me explain a little
about thyroid hormones. The two main thyroid hormones are T4 (thyroxin) and T3 (levo-Triiodothyronine).
The thyroid gland mainly produces T4 which is later converted by a Deiodinase enzyme
to T3. The interesting thing is that T3 is about five times more potent at raising
the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) than T4. In a dieting situation, the body produces
less deiodinase enzyme, therefore producing less T3. Without the effects of the more
potent T3, the BMR decreases. Of course, there is plenty of T4 but it's just not
potent enough to maintain the metabolism. With a lowered metabolism, less calories
are burned on a daily basis and weight loss/calorie restricted diets cease to work!*
In order for the body to start losing fat more efficiently, we must find a way to
raise the BMR. Several methods are used for this purpose and center around two approaches.
One is to stimulate the adrenergic system and the other is to increase the amount
of thyroid hormone activity. Each of these approaches are effective and have varying
effects on the body's metabolism. However, a combination of the two is optimal for
dramatic fat loss potential.*
The most effective method of stimulating the adrenergic
system is to take a product like Thermogenix-2. Not only does this product contain
the most potent thermogenic blend available, but it also contains a combination of
Dandelion and Juniper which has been shown to regulate excess water retention and
bloating. The other approach to raising the body's metabolic rate is to increase
the amount of thyroid hormone activity. Vitasport has developed a revolutionary new
product designed to do just that... it's called Thyrostim-T3!*
Review the ingredients
below and compare them to any other thyroid activating metabolism enhancing product
on the market and you'll see why Thyrostim is the new leader in the world of thyroid
activating fat-loss accelerators.*
- Bladderwrack - Shown to regulate and improve thyroid function by allowing the thyroid
to take up more iodine, which is critical in the production of the thyroid hormones
T4 and T3.*
- Sea Vegetable Extract - Contains large quantities of fiber shown to absorb fat-soluble
toxins that enter the bloodstream during dieting. This is also a good source of iodine,
the biomolecular compound the thyroid gland needs for proper functioning.
- Guggul Extract - Shown to increase thyroid hormone levels, which may increase fat
loss. It has also been shown to lower LDL cholesterol up to 25%.*
- Coleus Forskohli - Shown to increase the breakdown of carbohydrates and fats, increases
thyroid hormones (T4 and T3) and enhances the effects of epinephrine which allows
the body release more fatty acids.*
- Ashwaganda - Able to raise T3 levels, while at the same time reduce liver stress
(by improving liver antioxidant status). The liver is the main site of T4 to T3 conversion
in the body. It is also now recognized that stress is a major factor that blocks
the conversion of T4 to T3, therefore, the addition of this compound gives us one
more nutrient that has an ability to help the body normalize its stress response.*
- Blueberry Leaf Extract - Helps to reduce glucose absorption in the intestines, decrease
glucose synthesis in the liver, and speed up the rate of glucose metabolism.*
- Kelp - Supplies iodine which along with Bladderwrack allows for increased thyroid
hormone release which leads to efficient fat burning.*
- Zinc - This mineral is necessary for the TRH hypothalamus hormone to stimulate the
pituitary gland, which signals the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormone. Adequate
levels of zinc are required for proper thyroid hormone function. As we age, zinc
deficiencies become more common.*
- Selenium - Critical to the proper function of the enzyme that converts T4 to its
active form T3. Selenium deficiency is a major factor in low thyroid function.*
- 3,5 Diiodo L-Tyrosine - A T3 precursor which also increases the effects of epinephrine
and norepinephrine which help release more fatty acids into the bloodstream, where
they can be burned as energy.*
- Vitamin A - Works with Zinc and Vitamin E to produce thyroid hormones.*
- Vitamin D - Necessary for thyroid hormone production in the pituitary gland.*
- Vitamin E - Part of the necessary supporting apparatus that enables the deiodinase
enzyme to convert T4 to its active form T3.*
